Hiding a tree stump by creating a flowerbed

AccueilGarden & HouseHiding a tree stump by creating a flowerbed

Hello to all,

I live in a housing estate that was originally an old chestnut grove.

Who says chestnut grove says tree stumps that are still lying around.

Well, we can’t say that it’s the most aesthetic to have a stump in the middle of a lawn!

I had taken the trouble to plant things around but it’s not very nice and not very practical to mow.

As it is quite imposing and deep, I did not take the option to dig it up, so what to do?

Well, simply create a flowerbed on top of it to hide it.

To do this, I bought from gamm vert some autoclave pine borders.

I took 5 of them to make a pentagon, I prefer to a simple square without flavor.

I put them in place to see how they look and then I started to push them in.

Once the borders are in place, I will now fill this bed.

I choose to recover from my composter the shredded leaves not yet composted but in full decomposition.

The second layer will be made of compost.

A third of soil from the garden.

To finish, I complete with potting soil.

And here is a beautiful flowerbed that hides the stump.

All that remains is to plant or sow.

It is obvious that the plants to be put on the stump must be satisfied with less soil than the others around.

I will keep you posted on the planting and the history of this bed!
