How to prune a rose tree?

AccueilGarden & HouseMy gardenHow to prune a rose tree?

Hello,

In order for a rosebush to provide beautiful roses from spring onwards and also to offer an always pleasant port, it is advised to prune the rosebush after the last frosts until the end of March.

We are talking here about training pruning and not the pruning that is possible all year round, especially to remove faded flowers.

Presentation

This is a Louis de Funès meilland rose, a very fragrant variety with a superb orange color.

It is a bushy rose, with a remontant habit:

At the end of winter, the rosebush has of course lost its roses and leaves and is slowly starting to grow new branches.

In pictures, it looks like this before pruning:

We will therefore cut back the stems of the rosebush to keep only one branch of about 10 cm.

It is also time to remove the stems that are a little weaker, all this in order to build up our rosebush.
