Wax Begonia (Begonia x semperflorens-cultorum) - Description

Also known as the Wax Begonia, this is probably the Begonia that comes to mind when thinking of this species. Keep these Begonias fairly protected from afternoon sun to maintain it's mahogany colored, spoon shaped foliage. They are also very sensitive to the frost, so if you live in zone 7 or lower you can bring this inside or use as an annual. It's long lasting blooms are red, pink, and white.

There are many different types of flowers in this Genus, but the largest of them all are in the tuberous Begonia class. Begonias come in almost all colors except for blue.

Most Begonias do best indoors or in greenhouses as potted plants as they do well with moderate temperatures and humidity. Although there's a wide variety of Begonia, types they all prefer bright indirect light or filtered sun.
