Natal Plum (Carissa macrocarpa) - Description

C. macrocarpa is a South American native. It is a fast-growing, strong, upright, rounded strub, which can grow to heights of 5 to 7 feet tall and wide. It bears oval, leathery, lustrous rich green 3 inch leaves. It has spines along branches at the end of each twig to discourage trespassers.

Evergreen shrubs and small trees. Performs best in full sun but can tolerate some shade. In areas that are frost-free, grow Carissa in a shrub border. Also works as hedging.
