Wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox) - Description

C. praecox is native to China and Japan. It is a winter-blooming shrub with spice-scented blossoms. It slowly grows with many stems from the base. It bears flowers on it's leafless branches in the winter or spring. It has blossoms are 1 inch wide translucent pale yellow, with darker centers marked in shades of purple, chocolate, or maroon.

Small yellow fragrant flowers with darker colored centers appear on leafless stems in winter or spring. The blooms can last for up to 1 month as long as the weather permits (no frost).
