There is only one known species of Dictamnus, D. albus, endemic to areas in Europe and Asia. D. albus is sometimes called the "Burning Bush", because of the volatile oils it produces which can be ignited during hot, windy weather conditions. Due to this ability, it is hypothesized that Dictamnus is the "Burning Bush" mentioned in the bible. Most parts of the plant can cause stomach discomfort upon consumption, and the foliage may aggravate the skin.
