The Hyacinth Bean Vine was so widely cultivated for food and as an ornamental that its geographic origin was never pinpointed. Some botanists believe that they are native to Asia. Practically all parts of the plant are edible, although the seeds are slightly toxic and need to be cooked well in two washes of water before they should be considered edible.
