Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) - Description
E. crassipes is native to tropical America. It has feathery roots with floating leaves. It bears lilac blue flowers which have a yellow spot on the center of the upper petals. Needs warm water to flower profusely.

Perennial plants that are grown as annuals in colder climates, as they are frost tender. The lower parts of the leaves have air pockets that keep them afloat on water.
