Fawn Lily (Erythronium oregonum) - Description
Erythronium oregonum is a species of flowering plant in the lily family which is known by the common name giant white fawn lily. It is native to western North America from British Columbia to California, where it grows in the Pacific Coast Ranges.

Erythroniums do well in partial or full shade, which is generally thought to prevent the bulbs from drying out. These little lilies are normally found under the canopy of the forest.

The Trout Lily has many different common names including Adder's Tongue, Serpent's Tongue and Adder's Mouth. The species E. americanum is said to have "magical" healing properties. To heal a wound, it is said that one should soak the plant in cold water. Gently rub the cold, wet plant on the wound. Then bury the used plant in wet mud. Additionally, this plant is associated with femininity and the moon. The common name of Trout Lily is derived from the speckled colors of the plant's leaves, which is reminiscent of the scales of a trout.
