Winecups (Geissorhiza radians) - Description
Winecups are known for their interestingly colored flowers. The petals (the "petals" are technically tepals) form a funnel giving the flowers a cup-like shape. Does best with full sun. Where Geissorhiza is marginally hardy, grow plants at the base of a warm wall with winter protection, or in a temperate greenhouse. Temperate greenhouses have daytime temperatures set between 50-55°F (10-13°C), and a nighttime temperature of 45°F (7°C).In warmer climates, Geissorhiza works well in a bed or border.

Propagate from the seed when ripe. Sow in containers in a cold frame. Cold frames are protective structures, located outside for propagating and growing plants.Conduct separation of offset corms when dormant.
Winecups (Geissorhiza radians) - Pest
Rarely affected by pests.
Winecups (Geissorhiza radians) - Interesting facts
There are around 60-70 known species in the genus Geissorhiza, from dry lowland sand to moist upland areas in southern Africa. Geissorhiza is in the iris family.
