Water Avens (Geum rivale) - Description
Geum rivale, the water avens, is a flowering plant of the family Rosaceae. Other names for the plant are nodding avens, drooping avens, cure-all, water flower and indian chocolate. It is native to much of Europe, with the exception of Mediterranean areas, as well as some parts of Central Asia and North America.

Cut away flowers to promote continued blooming into the fall. The fuzzy seed heads are also attractive, so leave a few of the spent flowers to develope into these if you wish.

Grow in sun, but it will tolerate some shade. They prefer cool summer climates, after noon shade is best with warmer summers. Division is needed in spring if plants become too crowded.
