Avens (Geum x 'Red Dragon') - Description
A superb selection of the old-fashioned geum. Blooms quite early and displays larger, fully-double blooms in intense, bright scarlet red. Grows quickly in moisture rich, but quickly draining, soils.

Cut away flowers to promote continued blooming into the fall. The fuzzy seed heads are also attractive, so leave a few of the spent flowers to develope into these if you wish.

Grow in sun, but it will tolerate some shade. They prefer cool summer climates, after noon shade is best with warmer summers. Division is needed in spring if plants become too crowded.
