Common Sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Sunspot') - Description
Very much like the familiar giant sunflowers, but only 18in. tall. Flower heads grow to 12in. across. Great for children's gardens and containers. Blooms about 9 weeks from sowing. You can plan your bloom time of year around when you sow the seeds. So stagger the plantings for long time color or plant all at once to enjoy a single robust bloom at a time when you need it...like the annual family gathering!

Grow in sunny, open areas. Plant in drifts at the back corners and along fences. You should make sure tall varieties are sheltered from the wind or they may even need staking. They will tolerate heat, but frost will kill them.
