Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Burgundy Ice') - Description

A very beautiful, small-to-medium head lettuce. This Burpee exclusive's outer leaves are heavily blushed with burgundy, while the crisp inner leaves are light green. This plant loves it cold, so plant early in the Springtime. Repeat plantings every two weeks into the fall. During hot spells protect from heat with shade cloth. This little lettuce likes fertile soil with good drainage, and ample water. It is best when picked minutes before your meal. Space or thin lettuce plants to 8" apart. It should take about 77 days for 'Burgundy Ice' to be ready for the dinner table!
