Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Sierra Blush') - Description
Batavia lettuce forms tall open heads with bright green leaves that are pink blushed at the tips. This lettuce grows best in cool weather but it is rather heat tolerant and resists bolting. When thinning out your beds, make delicious extra-early salads from the baby greens. Make successive plantings every two weeks or so to extend period of harvest. In dry weather, keep soil moist to delay onset of bolting. Harvest these crisp and crunchy heads at any stage of growth, but will reache its full-size in about 56 days from sowing seeds.
