Lobelia hybrida 'Ruby Slippers' Burpee's native cardinal flower is now even more gorgeous, and the flowers are double in size! Jumbo deep rose flowers cover the 3' tall spikes. Hummingbirds and butterflies love it. Great for cut flowers. Height 3-4'. Spacing 2-3'. Grows best in partial shade to full sun. Blooms July-Sept. Perennial in Zones 4-8.

All have tubular flowers that are slit almost to the base to form two lips. The top lip has two lobes and the bottom one three. Flowers are single or in erect racemes or panicles in shades of blue to red to white to yellow. To enhance flowering, implement a balanced liquid fertilizer biweekly between spring and early summer.
