Laurel Magnolia (Magnolia virginiana) - Description

M. virginiana bears creamy white, fragrant flowers that are 2 to 3 inches wide, blooming late spring to late summer. It prefers moist, acid soil, growing in swamps in the eastern United States. It's leaves are bright green above, and nearly white beneath, and 2 to 5 inches in length. It's twigs and branches are also a bright green color.
