Bridal Wreath (Stephanotis floribunda) - Description

Stephanotis floribunda syn. S. jasminoides (Madagascar jasmine, waxflower, Hawaiian wedding flower, bridal wreath) is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae, native to Madagascar. Growing to 6 m (20 ft) or more, it is an evergreen woody climber with glossy, leathery oval leaves and clusters of pure white, waxy, intensely fragrant tubular flowers.

Blooms very fragrant white, 5-lobed flowers from spring to fall.

Bridal Wreath (Stephanotis floribunda) - Growth

Evergreen and woody-stemmed climbers. Madagascar Jasmines will grow to approx. 10-15 ft. tall. Grows best in full sun, with some shade during the middle of the day. In regions where temperatures drop below 59°F (15°C), grow Stephanotis in a warm greenhouse, or as a houseplant. Areas with warmer climates are well suited for Stephanotis. The plant can be trained over a pergola or on a wall.

Madagascar Jasmines should be planted in an area where the roots will be in the shade and the tops of the plant are in filtered sun. Propagate from the seed in spring at 64-70°F (18-21°C). Can also propagate from semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
