Transplant out on or right after the last frost date. Before planting, work in a 2" thick layer of compost into the soil. With clay and heavy soils, it is best to plant in raised beds. Sow seeds 1/2" deep, 1" apart in rows 18" apart. Make sure to thin seedlings to 6" apart with 1-2' between rows.Set transplants 6" apart and 4" deep in trenches that are 8" deep and wide.
