C. bignonioides are native to the southeastern United States. It bears 5 to 8 inch long leaves.

Flowers in the spring and summer. Flowers are typical of those in the Bignoniaceae family (trumpet shaped). They are usually pure white with stripes of yellow. Bean-like seed pods develop in autumn.
