Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) - Description

C. speciosa is native to the central United States. It is the most widely distributed catalpa in the West. It is a round-headed tree which bears leaves that are 6 to 12 inches lon, and odorless when crushed.

Flowers in the spring and summer. Flowers are typical of those in the Bignoniaceae family (trumpet shaped). They are usually pure white with stripes of yellow. Bean-like seed pods develop in autumn.
