Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis) - Description
Ravenea rivularis is an endangered species of flowering plant in the Arecaceae family. The extremely elegant, fast-growing majesty palm has upward-arching leaves that are divided into long, thin fingers. It makes a fine conservatory feature plant, but make sure the roof is high enough, because, in the right conditions, it can get quite tall.
Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis) - Growth
Does best in full sun or partial shade. Ravenea works well in containers both inside and outside, on patios, decks, or sun rooms. Majesty palm is not frost tolerant. In frost free areas, Ravenea makes a fine specimen plant. In other areas, Majesty palm should be grown in containers where it can be brought inside during cold spells.
Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis) - Planting
Propagate Majesty palm from the seed. The seeds germinate in 2-3 months.
Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis) - Interesting facts
Majesty palm is native to Madagascar where it is rapidly disappearing along with other native flora.
Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis) - Soil and irrigation
Will grow in most soil types. Water regularly. Avoid overwatering as soggy soil is not good for the plant.
