Noble Dendrobium (Dendrobium nobile) - Description
The Noble Dendrobium, Dendrobium nobile, is a member of the family Orchidaceae. It is one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine, know as shí hú (Chinese: 石斛) or shí hú lán (Chinese: 石斛兰). This orchid is one of the most widespread ornamental members of the family.

Deciduous, semi-evergreen, ephiphytic and terrestrial orchids. Plants grow from pseudobulbs mostly as epiphytic plants. Thrives in the tropics, subtropics and can survive in the milder Mediterranean climates. If you wish to grow Dendrobiums in climates that get cold in the winter, you will need to grow them in greenhouses.

There are two types of Dendrobiums which require two different watering regimes. The evergreen Dendrobiums will keep their leaves year round and need to be watered regularly year round (less water is needed in the winter, but still water is needed).
