Tricyrtis (Tricyrtis macropoda) - Description

Tricyrtis macropoda (Toad Lily) is a hardy perennial in the family Liliaceae that is native to China, typically growing on grassy slopes, forests, and crevices at 800 to 2,400 m (2,600 to 7,900 ft) elevation. Flowers have reflexed tepals that are greenish white or white, with purple-red spots, blooming from June-October.

Tricyrtis (Tricyrtis macropoda) - Growth

Rhizomatous or stoloniferous herbaceous perennials. Toad Lilies need deep or partial shade to grow best. In sites where winters are harsh, overwinter young plants for the first winter in a cold greenhouse. Tricyrtis works best in a woodland garden or a shady border.

Slugs and snails are a threat in spring when plants are young.

Tricyrtis (Tricyrtis macropoda) - Soil and irrigation
