Polypodium vulgare, the common polypody, is a fern of the Polypodiaceae family.

Evergreen fern, mostly ephiphytic, some terrestrial. Widespread and variable group. Grows best in full sun or light shade with protection from cold and dry winds. Often used in hanging baskets. Hardy species work well as a groundcover in a rock garden, border, or along a bank. Less hardy species should be grown indoors under warm conditions. Polypodim grow best in tropical regions, where they are ephiphytic and can be found growing on trees, rocks, and walls.
