Stokes' Aster (Stokesia laevis 'Purple Pixie') - Description

Stokesia laevis 'Purple Pixie' is the first ever dwarf Stokes' Aster! At less than one foot tall, this little cutie makes neat and tidy mounds that are perfect for the front of the border. In mid summer, Stokesia laevis 'Purple Pixie' explodes into color with dozens of large violet-blue flowers followed by sporadic rebloom in the fall.

Blooms come in the summer and early autumn. They come in blue, purplish blue, or white, and tend to be 3-4 in. across. Deadhead to lengthen the flowering period.

Erect perennial. Stokesia will grow to be about 1 frac12;-2 ft. tall. Grows best in full sun. Works well in a herbaceous border in a sunny site. The flowers are suitable for cutting.
