Pink Lapacho (Tabebuia impetiginosa) - Description
The Pink Ipecirc; or Pink Lapacho is a popular street tree from Northern Mexico all the way south to Southern Argentina. Much like some of its relatives, the Pink Lapacho blooms in spring with densely packed pink flowers that appear before the foliage resulting in a canopy of all blooms.

Flowers are usually produced in spring when plants reach about 10ft (3m) tall.
Pink Lapacho (Tabebuia impetiginosa) - Growth
Large trees and shrubs. Grow Tabebuia in a site that receives full sun. Where temperatures drop below 46-59ºF (8-15ºC), raise plants indoors in a greenhouse or conservatory. In warmer regions, Tabebuia makes nice specimen trees and the shrubby species work well in a shrub border. Tabebuia is also useful for a lawn planting and as street trees. Salt resistant species are suitable for coastal borders.

When ripe, or in spring, sow seeds at 61ºF (16ºC). Propagate via semi-ripe cuttings in summer using bottom heat. Air layering is also possible in spring.

There are around 100 known species in the genus Tabebuia, native to the neotropical habitats in Central and South America, as well as the West Indies. Ipecirc;, Poui, and trumpet trees are popular common names for Tabebuia.Many species of Tabebuia are widely used as timber trees for furniture and decking. The bark of some species is also known to have medicinal properties.Tabebuia is very significant to the peoples of South and Central America and was made a national symbol of many of the nations in these areas. For example, T. chrysantha is the national flower of Brazil. T. chrysantha is also the national tree of Venezuela and T. rosea is the national tree of El Salvador.

Does best with fertile, moist soil. A soil-based potting mix works fine for indoor plants. Water freely while in growth, but sparingly in winter.
