Large-Flowering Crocus (Crocus x 'Flower Record') - Description
When they bloom, you know that spring is here! Crocus are among the first heralds of spring. Their cups of vivid color, make a welcome splash of color along walks, by an entryway or naturalized in your lawn and around shrubs. Unlike most crocus bulbs on the market, jumbo sized bulbs produce three or more flowers from each bulb...the first year! Large flowered crocus will bloom for two to three weeks in late winter to early spring, just after the Snow Crocus. We recommend planting both types for many weeks of bloom. For best effect, plant crocus in groups or drifts of 25 or more. To maximize bloom time and enjoy their jewel like flowers even longer, plant some in full sun, some in partial shade, others in full shade. Those in full sun will flower first. When happy with their location and fertilized periodically, crocus bulbs will multiply quickly and continue to provide color in your early spring garden year after year.
Large-Flowering Crocus (Crocus x 'Flower Record') - Blooming
Each corm produces one to five blooms, which may be yellow, white, purple, lavender, or bicolored, depending on the cultivar. Flowers appear in late winter or early spring for spring-blooming crocuses. The flowers range from cup to goblet shaped.
Large-Flowering Crocus (Crocus x 'Flower Record') - Growth
Clump-forming dwarf perennials. Grassy leaves appear just after or with flowers. Most grow best in full sun or partial shade. Works well in rock gardens or borders.
Large-Flowering Crocus (Crocus x 'Flower Record') - Planting
For spring blooming crocuses, plant in fall, 3-4" deep. For autumn blooming crocuses plant in late summer or early fall. Crocuses won't naturalize where the winter is warm.

Chipmunks will dig up and eat any Crocus they can.
Large-Flowering Crocus (Crocus x 'Flower Record') - Soil and irrigation
Poor to average, sandy or gritty soil. Soil should be well-drained, and preferably completely dry when the crocuses are dormant in the summer. Water liberally during the growing season.
