Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Nevada Green') - Description
Large open headed Batavia lettuce has thick, tender green leaves. Crisp, crunchy texture is hardly affected by heat, and it will resist bolting. This lettuce still grows best in cool weather. Starting in early spring make successive plantings to extend period of harvest. Harvest at any stage of growth, but it will be at full-size in about 56 days from sowing seeds.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
