Oriental Tree Peony (Paeonia x 'Dark Pink (Shan Hu Tai)') - Description

Exquisite coral red 6" flowers against dark green leaves. Sturdy, free blooming plants only 3 foot tall. Prized by collectors. Tree Peonies are loved by everyone who has ever seen them in bloom and last a lifetime in the garden. A deciduous shrub, not a tree, the tree peony has woody stems and grows to a height of 3-6 feet, often with a wider spread. These gorgeous cultivars are imported from the Orient, where for many centuries they have had an exalted place in the culture. A mature shrub produces dozens of huge, long lasting, silken blooms that delight the eye in May-June, depending on cultivar and climate. Plant one as a specimen in a prominent place in the garden, or plant several in a mixed border surrounded with summer-blooming perennials. They like sun or part shade, and rich, well drained soil.
