C. variegatum is native to the tropics. It is grown outdoors in frost-free climates. It bears large, leathery, glossy green, yellow, red, purple, bronze, pink (or any combination of these colors) leaves.

Inconspicuous yellow flowers are borne throughout summer. Foliage is showy, starting out yellow and green and maturing to orange and deep red.
