Montbretia (Crocosmia crocosmiiflora 'Lucifer') - Growth

Perennials. 2 to 3-foot tall clumps of ribbed, linear to sword shaped leaves. Some varieties are hardy, and may be grown outdoors all year. Corms may be packed in a cool (40F) dry place over winter for less hardy varieties, but they will not flower as well. May also be treated as annuals. Does best in sun or partial shade.

Plant corms in spring 3-4 inches deep, 4-5 inches apart in evenly moist soil that is rich in organic matter. Can also propagate by division in spring, before growth begins. Division entails propagating a plant by splitting it into 2 or more parts. Each part has its own root system and more than one shoot or dormant bud.
