Varnish Leaf (Dodonaea viscosa) - Description
D. viscosa is native to many warmer regions, such as Arizona and Hawaii. It is a fast-growing shrub with many upright stems. It bears red, pink, tan, yellow, or green flowers in late spring or summer.

Hop Bush is a very tough shrub that can withstand poor soil, high winds and heat. Dodonaea does best in full sun, or full light. In warm areas, grow Dodonaea as a hedge or in a border. Where not hardy, raise plants in a cool greenhouse with a minimum temperature of 35°F (2°C). During the day, set temperatures between 41-50°F (5-10°C), and at night, keep the temperature at 36°F (2°C).
