Tithonia (Tithonia rotundifolia 'Sundance') - Description
Also known as Mexican Sunflower. Large, showy, compact plants bear radiant scarlet-orange, daisy-like 3" flowers. Plant in the back of the annual flower border. Hummingbirds and butterflies love them. Very heat tolerant.
Tithonia (Tithonia rotundifolia 'Sundance') - Blooming
Flower heads appear from summer to frost. Flowers have orange ray flowers and yellow disk flowers. Deadhead to lengthen the flowering period.

Annuals, perennials, and shrubs. Does best with full sun. Tolerates high heat. If young plants are subjected to bouts of cold, the leaves may turn yellow. Tithonia does not grow well during cool, overcast weather conditions. T. rotundifolia is the most cultivated species. Works well in a mixed or annual border. Flowers are suitable for cuttings as they are long-lasting.
